It´s been almost one month since Oprah gave an inspiring speech at the Golden Globe Awards, but her words and story can't be forgotten by us women. It gives us strength to keep chasing our dreams, no matter what it takes! Even with a difficult childhood, Oprah didn't lose hope to live a life she could only dream of. Now, she's the highest paid entertainer in the world and the first black woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes!
Oprah was born in a poor childhood and her parents separated after she was born. She lived with her mom, and was abused several times since the age of nine, by men in her family that she trusted the most. Her mother worked and didn't have time to supervise her daughter. She went to live at her father's house, but returned to her mother's house after a short while. However when she was a teenager, she went to live permanently at her father's house. There, Oprah said that her father saved her, because he gave her books and provided tools for her own personal growth and to showcase her talents. She went to Tennessee State University with a full scholarship, and was hired by Nashville Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS), when she was just a sophomore! The time passed and Oprah, kept growing in her career and making her passions and dreams into reality. Some of her accomplishments are: acting debuting in the movie The Color Purple, directed by the bright Steven Spielberg; having her own talk-show, named as Oprah Winfrey Show; and being the powerful book marketer in the US, by starting an on-air reading club.
Her story is a proof that, if you put something in your mind, you can achieve it, and that an empowered woman can empower all women, and also makes us realize that everyone has the same capacity to succeed in life, because noboody is superior to nobody!
´´What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I'm especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories.´´- Oprah, at Golden Globe Awards
So keep going, make your own story and share it with the world to show women's power! Because any woman can be a Boss Lady!
